Syracuse, NY – In an effort to remain environmentally friendly, Planet Green Construction, LLC – Syracuse area’s fastest growing construction company - uses biodiesel fuel in all of their construction equipment and vehicles, which on average costs 10%-20% more than regular diesel.  Planet Green is planning to build communities filled with green space and is currently involved in development of a 400-lot Malibu Hills Estates.  The entire development in Malibu Hills Estates will have a tremendous amount of green space which will be common area for all to use.

Biodiesel is the name of a clean burning alternative fuel, produced partially from domestic, renewable resources.  It is the only alternative fuel to have fully completed the health effects testing requirements of the Clean Air Act.  The use of biodiesel in a conventional diesel engine results in substantial reduction of unburned hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, and particulate matter compared to emissions from diesel fuel.  In addition, the exhaust emissions of sulfur oxides and sulfates, which are major components of acid rain, from biodiesel are essentially eliminated compared to diesel.

The decision to “go green” with its name is in line with the company’s mission to use products that are highly conducive to clean air, not limited to the use of biodiesel.  In constructing the homes, Planet Green uses other “green” elements, such as ultra low E windows, high efficiency heat/air, high efficiency appliances, recycled wood “silent floor system.”  After construction of the new home is completed, Planet Green also reuses local trees on the property by moving and replanting trees from adjacent forest.

A native of Onondaga Hill, Guy has been in home construction for over 30 years.  After receiving a BA in Business from Boston University, Guy moved to Los Angeles, California where he established Guy Bercier Construction, Inc., which specialized in production framing and structural concrete.  In 1989 Guy became a custom home builder in Malibu and Beverly Hills, where he constructed over 50 multi-million dollar homes.  His clients included numerous celebrities and Hollywood stars, as well as several corporate executives and others involved in the film industry.  Community is important to Guy, as shown by his involvement in Los Angeles in Food for the Homeless, MS Olympics and several benefits for abused children.
